Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in the pelvis can cause pain and bleeding. Endovascular embolization under fluoroscopy is an effective minimally invasive option to occlude abnormal vessels and control symptoms.
Using angiography, the feeding arteries are catheterised and embolic agents are deployed to reduce flow through the AVM. Procedures are planned with multidisciplinary input to preserve surrounding pelvic organs and fertility where possible.
